Australia is quite an easy country for me to visit, in a way. I have several friends there, some of whom I’ve known since we were penpals. This makes it more convenient to couchsurf, and visit places less accessible by public transport.
Also, when I was growing up, we had a lot of Australian pop-culture in the UK. Since there are also lots of other connections between our two countries, going to Australia feels to me a bit like going to distant England – it’s just a longer flight.
