Category: Asia
Although I’ve been backpacking in Asia quite a lot, it seems I haven’t written much about it. Apart from a couple of tales of my adventures in Central and South Asia, it’s a part of the website I’ve kind of passed over. It’s a shame as I’ve visited a lot of the continent, from Lebanon to Philippines.
Indeed it was while backpacking in Asia that I realised that travel was an integral part of who I am. Although I’d been travelling before, it wasn’t until a couple of weeks in Laos and Cambodia in 2012 that I realised that I could ‘do’ this, mentally – in a sense this is where The Barefoot Backpacker concept was formed.
At the moment though, all I have is a couple of posts on darker history (from the Aral Sea to the Killing Fields of the Khmer Rouge), and an overview of Bangladesh. This is a country rarely visited by backpackers though, so it definitely suits my niche!
