Category: Asexuality
Asexuality is a sexual orientation. It is the ‘A’ in the LGBTQIA+ acronym. It defines a lack of sexual attraction. People who are asexual experience fewer feelings of sexual desire and ‘need’ that most other orientations do.
It’s less attested than many other sexualities. There’s far fewer of us and we’re not well represented in the media or pop-culture. What little publicity we do get is often misunderstood; people confuse us with celibates or assume we’re just closeted and will grow out of it once we learn more about ourselves.
If you’ve known me for a while you’ll know I consider myself asexual. Although I mention it on my social media profiles, it’s not something I really talk about much on a day-to-day basis. In this section I talk about my experiences as an asexual, and how my asexuality influences my life.
