Terms of Use & Content
This website (barefoot-backpacker.com) and associated media (including, but not limited to, the Travel Tales From Beyond The Brochure podcast and related Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter streams) have been created to provide readers with information and entertainment only. I provide this information for you to use at your own risk and make no representations about the accuracy or completeness of any content on this site or any of the sites which I link to.
I take no responsibility for loss or damage caused by directly or indirectly using or displaying the information published and will not be liable for errors or omissions. I reserve the right to shut some or all parts of barefoot-backpacker.com down or amend any of the content without prior notice, including any comments my readers have left on posts.
Remember: I go to these places so you don’t have to. In addition, I take no responsibility if you suffer an injury or have legal issues as a result of trying to recreate my barefootitude.
All opinions expressed in the blog are my own and are based on my experiences, personal thoughts and values. In the unlikely and rare event of my hosting guest posts (probably more true for contributions to my podcast), where the opinions and thoughts are those of the guest poster and not my own. I will always be honest and transparent with my experiences of products and services and the posts on this blog will never be written with the intention to harm or offend any individuals, companies or groups. Please note that everything I post is based on my experiences of the destination in question and accurately reflect my findings at the time of my visit; obviously over time the accuracy may change – all posts are reviewed and updated frequently but I do not guarantee that you will have the same experiences as myself.
Copyright
All content on this website, including images, belongs to the author. Occasionally images will be used from other sources and when this occurs full credit will be given in the image caption. No content appearing on barefoot-backpacker.com or related sites is permitted for reuse without explicit permission from the owner of this website.
Except my “Work With Me” page which is blatantly “inspired” by KirstyLeanne.
Sponsored Content
From time to time, it’s possible I could be gifted products and services for review or in minimal cases I receive payment from brands to review their products or services. In these cases the related blog post will clearly state which products or services mentioned were gifted and / or sponsored. The only products or services which are accepted for review are those which I would choose to spend my own, hard-earned cash on and therefore I can assure you that opinions are 100% my own and I will always be honest with my readers.
As at 1 January 2019, this has not happened. But it may do in the future.
Privacy Policy
Oh god.
Right.
The website barefoot-backpacker.com does not, as far as I am aware, share any personal information with third-parties. I’ll be honest and say I don’t exactly know how some of my plug-ins work, but they all seem to be GDPR compliant so that’s good enough for me. Some non-attributable information is used for the purposes of data analysis (mainly through Google Analytics) but this is all anonymised and data more detailed than of city/browser/operating system/etc is not collected nor passed forward. Such information includes, but is not limited to, page response times, length of visits to pages, page interaction information and methods used to browse away from pages. Google Analytics itself stores all manner of weird data (including whether you’re a dog or cat person, and whether you like yoghurt, as 56% of my visitors seem to), but that’s nothing I keep.
Posting comments on my blog does require an e-mail address and name, and this information will be forwarded to me via e-mail notification, but these aren’t validated fields and the data contained therein is not used for any purpose save, subject to your agreement, contacting you when follow-up comments to your comments occur.
I currently do not operate a newsletter; when and if I do, this policy will be updated. I believe it is possible to subscribe to my website independently – I have no idea how this works and I’ve never set my website up to be able to do this, so I store no information about people doing this. Maybe I should look into that as well. If/when I do, I’ll again update this policy.
There are cookies in use on this website, partly to assist with the analysis, and partly to make your life potentially easier and more personable by remembering who you are. If you’re at all concerned at this, you do have the option to turn cookies off – via the cookie popup on this very website, or in your browser for a blanket objection.
This privacy policy is subject to change without notice. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
