What better way to sign off this round of pics fro

What better way to sign off this round of pics from my Winter trip to South East Asia than with a couple of the restful Mekong River (and one of the Nam Khan, a tributary) in Luang Prabang.

There's many bars on the road that runs on an embankment above the river - you can just sit there all evening and watch the sun set whilst sipping on a local beer or six. They're quite cheap, and not too strong.

Luang Prabang is that kind of place. Unrushed. Calming. Pretty. Gentle. A great place to just chill and not worry too much about life, the universe, and everything. Not a lot happens there, and there's not a great deal to see, but I guess that's the point.

I liked it when I was there in 2012, and I liked it twelve years later. It's a bit far to make it a regular jaunt but I'm glad it's somewhere I've gone back to.

The first pic is the old royal palace of the local king, turned into a museum by the communist government.

The next few are some of the Buddhist temples scattered around the city; it's a very religious-oriented place even if religion itself is ... only tolerated in the country as a whole.

The last couple are streets in the city. There's a couple of main streets where everything is, but step down a side street, often for a visit to a temple, and you're greeted with something quite calming and pretty.
