Podcast #114: King Of Comedy

A small stand-up comedy stage is shown with a rustic, warm wooden backdrop that gives the whole space an intimate, club-like feel. Centred on the wall is a round black-and-white sign reading 'Frog & Bucket', which reinforces the comedy venue atmosphere. In front of it stands a performer in a bright, eclectic outfit that immediately draws the eye: patterned arcade-carpet-style dungarees layered with a pale turquoise jacket, plus purple hair and a light-coloured bucket hat. Their look is playful and energetic, matching the vibe of the setting. The performer appears to be holding a microphone and leaning slightly into the moment, as if in the middle of a joke or delivering a punchline. The stage itself is simple and uncluttered, with visible mic stands and a stool off to one side, emphasizing that the focus is entirely on the comedian. The lighting is subdued around the edges but centred enough to spotlight the performer and the sign behind them, creating the feeling of a live performance in a cosy, small-room venue.

You can listen via the feed above, or via Spotify, or on your podcast app of choice. Let me know if it isn’t, by the way, and I’ll see what I can do. In addition, a PDF transcript of this episode is available.

As always, if you have anything to say about the topic, or indeed about my podcasting in general, leave a comment or let me know. I now have a newsletter you can subscribe to, containing extra content, and it’s where I’ll be mentioning future podcast episodes if you want to make your own contribution.

I also now have a Patreon! If you like what you hear, and want to access exclusive content (or just to show your appreciation), then head on over to my page and donate to me!

There are no contributions, aside from my friend V, who also appears at the start of the pod. There, she’s quoting a line from 80s pop band Fatal Charm’s song “King of Comedy”, which might refer to the film of the same name. It’s hard to tell.
